Spring Fling

Tired of the white stuff and looking forward to some warmer, greener times?  Put a little “spring” in your step and come join with the

2^nd Saturday Group as we prepare to

“march” into spring.

 

We will meet in Fellowship Hall on Saturday, March 13^th, at 6:00pm to celebrate spring’s imminent arrival on March 20^th.  Please bring either a salad, a vegetable dish or dessert to share.  The meat will be provided.

 

RSVP to Pat Eggers at 540.347.2727  so we can coordinate dishes.

Easter Lily Memorial

 

 

This Easter, you can honor or remember someone special by placing an Easter Lily in the Sanctuary.  If you wish to participate, please fill out the form below and return it with a payment to the offering plate or the church office.

Inward, Outward, Upward Seminar

Sunday, March 21, 4-6pm

 

What is the best way to get involved at Greenwich?

I don’t feel like I really know anyone yet?

I wish I could find a place where I can grow spiritually?

I would love to serve but don’t know how or where to begin?

I’m involved but I don’t think what I’m doing is the ‘right fit’?

What in the world does ‘Inward, Outward, Upward’ mean?

 

If you find yourself asking any of these questions, then the Inward, Outward, Upward seminar is for you! At Greenwich, we believe that every member has a purpose for being here and we want to help you get connected! You have God-given gifts, a unique personality, personal challenges and needs, and particular interests that all contribute to what God is doing in your life and in our community.

 

IOU participants will learn about ministry at Greenwich and identify specific ways to get plugged into the life of the church. We believe that when you make your unique contribution, you will grow in Christian character (inward), make a difference for God in the world (outward), and glorify God in the process (upward).

Easter Basket Donations

 

We are preparing Easter Baskets for those in our congregation who are not always able to make it to church services.  We will prepare 15 baskets.  If you would like to donate items for these baskets, you can drop them off in the office before Sunday, March 21st.

Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

 

INWARD

 

Greenwich Preschool — Our preschool is now accepting registrations for the 2010-2011 school year.  Children need to be 3 years of age by September 30th.  For more information, contact Marian Rood at mrood@greenwichpres.org or stop by to visit!

 

Arts & Crafts Talent Show — We’re showcasing the fine art talent of our members!  We invite all artists to display their artwork on Saturday, March 20th, from 6:00 to 8:30pm, and also on Sunday, March 21st, from 9:00am to 12:00pm in Fellowship Hall.  This is an exhibition, not a sale.  If you’d like to participate, contact Chris Knoll at 703.530.0522.

 

Easter Lily Sign Up — This Easter, you can honor or remember someone special by placing an Easter Lily in the Sanctuary.  If you wish to participate, fill out one of the forms on the fellowship tables, and place it either in the offering plate or the church office.  Make checks out to “Greenwich Church”  with “Easter Lily” in the memo line.

 

Greenwich Softball Signup — There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board outside the church office for anyone interested in playing this year.  It is co-ed, age 15 and up.  All skill levels are welcome!  Questions?  Contact Jesse Spittle at 703.753.9421.

 

Easter Egg Hunt — Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 3rd, at 10:30am.  We welcome all children through 5th grade to bring their baskets and join us for a morning of great fun and fellowship!  We are looking for some EGG-cited helpers to join us as we plan this fun event.  Contact Joy Yates at 703.754.7933 or children@greenwichpres.org if you can join in the fun!

 

Lost & Found — All lost and found items will be in fellowship hall the next two Sundays.  Please check to see if any of the items may belong to you.

Inward, Outward, Upward Seminar, Sunday, March 21, 4:00 to 5:30pm — At Greenwich, we believe that everyone has a purpose for being here and we want to help you get connected!  IOU participants will learn about life at Greenwich and identify ways to get involved.  Childcare is available on request.  Pick up a flyer from the fellowship tables for more information.

 

Weekly Women’s Bible Study — Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30am.  We’ll be starting a six-week study of Genesis, Chapters 1 & 2 titled “The Creation” beginning April 8th.  Childcare offered upon request.  If interested, contact Debbie Gilbert at jdgilbert99@gmail.com or 540.347.5761 no later than March 21st, so a workbook can be ordered.  The workbook will cost approximately $15.00

 

OUTWARD

Calling all Sr. High Youth and Rising Freshman! — This year’s youth mission trip will be to Tennessee on July 11—17.  Are you interested?  Parents and youth come to an informational meeting this Sunday, March 7^th, from 6:30 to 8:00pm.

 

Easter Baskets for Our Homebound — This year we will once again prepare Easter baskets for our homebound members and friends.  If you would like to donate items, please see the flyer on our fellowship tables.

 

Mission Yard Sale — Save the date!  This year’s mission yard sale will take place on Saturday, May  1st.  More information to follow.

 

4th Annual Thai Dinner — This year’s Thai Dinner to benefit Farthest Corners will be at the Inn at Vint Hill will be on Saturday, April 24th, at 6:00pm.  Tickets are $35 per person.  For tickets see Brett Hinkey, Mike Lynn, Leslie McMillan, Duane Mohr, Mike Simms, Crystal Taylor or Becky Whitelock.  Questions?  Call 540.347.7819.

 

Vacation Bible School — Save the date for this year’s VBS.  Sunday, June 27th, through Thursday, July 1st.

 

Commitment Sunday — Thank you to all who expressed their commitment to support the work of the church this year.  If you have not already done so, we invite you to return the green Church Commitment Card at your earliest convenience.
